StriVectin
Senior UX and Digital Designer
I worked at StriVectin, a leader in the skincare industry, for 3 years. During that time, I handled everything from UI/UX design, 360° campaigns, product launches and promo shoots.
One project I worked extensively on was StriVectin's Skincare Quiz. StriVectin needed a way to collect and leverage customer insights while also keeping up with a growing industry standard. I was tasked with not only creating the quiz experience, but creating social media assets to help advertise it.
The Opportunity
One project I worked extensively on was StriVectin's Skincare Quiz. StriVectin needed a way to collect and leverage customer insights while also keeping up with a growing industry standard. I was tasked with not only creating the quiz experience, but creating social media assets to help advertise it.
A robust experience in this case needed provide the user with clear inputs and recomendations. It also needed to serve the end goal of engaing the user in a new way while also serving up some of the lesser noticed products in StriVectin’s catalogue.
The experience also needed to be designed for both browser and mobile experiences.
Research and Discovery
I began by conducting a competitive analysis where I looked at some competing brands like Kiehl's and Sephora. I even looked at some out of catagory competors, like Lemonaid insurence, where a quiz-like experience is served to capture user data and serve them personalized results.
I settled on a single-page layout for the smoothest experience. The designs were created in several viewports in order to accommodate all users and screen types. Once the User completes the quiz they are served a unique landing page with recommended products. Their emails would also be capture and used for marketing purposes.
I decided on a single page design as it offered the most seamless transition from mobile to web and ensured performance on browser.
I created on a unique iconography set that conveyed hard to explain skin-related problems.
When a user selected a response, the site would automatically bring the user to the next question, preventing them from endlessly scrolling from one question to the next, but also giving them the ability to return to previous questions.
The experience also lived on desktop. The results page offered the user recommended products based on their answers. The user was required to enter in their email before getting their results.
Reflection
In addition to the actual quiz, I worked on several short video assets to be featured across StriVectin’s social channels. I was active in conceptualizing and executing the video entirely.
This project was a first for StriVectin. The quiz resulted in a 13% increase in email acquisitions for the month in which it was deployed. This project also underscored how effective interactive experiences are for consumers, as well as as the value they place on personalization.•
